Simon

Simon is a theatre-maker, teacher and joint artistic director of jeudi. He is obsessed with the practice of play as a tool of creation, learning and care.

His collaborations in theatre include David Glass Ensemble, Created a Monster and Flabbergast Theatre for and with whom he performs across the UK and internationally. He is also co-writing and co-leading jeudi and David Glass Ensemble’s international training program (and a book) in creativity and devising theatre called Alchemy of the Extraordinary. His directing work has won an Offie for Created a Monster’s Unforgettable Girl.

He studied Drama and Literature as a Trinity and University scholar at Trinity College (University of Toronto), before spending two years at Ecole Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq (where he also completed the scenography based Laboratoire d’Etude de Mouvement) and receiving his MA Acting from Drama Centre, London. He has been privileged to work and develop with artists such as David Glass, Banuta Rubess, Matej Matejka, Jason Turner, Paula Rizza, Jos Houben, Anne Astolphe, Marie-Gabrielle Rotie, Carlos Garcia Estevez, Gerry Trentham, Denise Fujiwara, Astad Deboo, Amit Lahav, Kristine Landon-Smith and Maxine Heppner

He likes what Joseph Brodsky said, that aesthetics is the mother of ethics and wants art and performance to be a place of transformation where primary movements, humour and

poetic atmospheres pull an audience into an imagined time and space.
